Stockade Fencing

When choosing your fencing needs its easy to get bogged down in the details, especially when choosing some of the pricier fences like vinyl or rod iron.  Many overlook one of the most basic fencing set-ups available. 

Stockade fencing.  Simple and basic, stockade fencing usually consists of a whitewood like spruce or pine.  These woods are called white because at first they are white. 

Whitewoods are very easy to paint or stain and if choosing a whitewood stockade fencing system you should plan on this in order to preserve your fence.  Left untreated stockade fencing can warp and begin deteriorating. 

Other steps to be taken in making sure your stockade fencing stays in the best condition would be to install using galvanized stainless steel screws or nails. Care should also be taken to make sure that postholes are deeper then the frost levels for the area.

Stockade fencing is still and excellent choice when looking to provider security for your home, as well as defining boundaries.  Depending on your environment stockade fencing can also serve as a barrier against elements like wind and snow.  In most cases stockade fencing is available in prefabricated sections to help shorten installation times. 

This being the case, careful consideration should be given to the area of space that the fencing will cover.  Postholes must be properly placed to meet local building codes, you will also want to make sure that you are placing your posts into concrete footers. 

While it may not be a person’s first choice when it comes to a fence.  Stockade fencing definitely has some advantages for those looking for an easy to set up fence, you can paint or stain them to match your house or simple weather proof them to go with a more natural look.  Either way stockade fencing should not be left out.
