Picket Fence

It’s the American dream, the perfect little house, the perfect little yard, and the perfect children and of course the little white picket fence. 

 

Nothing is more classically American then a picket fence.  While you may think there isn’t really much to choosing a picket fence you will find that there are several different decisions to be made.

 

A picket fence is available in so many different materials, while the most common application is wood; many are starting to use vinyl to build a picket fence because it is just easier to work with. 

 

A vinyl picket fence is not only affordable it is maintenance free.  You wont have to worry about painting or staining your picket fence on a yearly basis.  Because of its additives vinyl is superior in durability to wood as it wont crack and it wont fade. 

 

Wood is still preferable though when building a picket fence because it just adds a more classic feel to a picket fence.  That being the case durable wooden solution is a cedar picket fence.  Cedar is much more durable and weather resistant then pine or spruce. 

 

Some ways to add even more style and a hint of elegance

 

to a picket fence is by adding an arched entrance or a Picket Fencegated entrance.  This allows for any number of choices.  With the proper landscaping choices, your picket fence can go from classic to extravagant. Color wise white is not your only option, choosing to go with a natural wood look can really change the overall feel of your home.

 

Whether you choose wood or vinyl, a picket fence is available in pre-made sections to make installation as easy as possible.  The dedicated do-it-yourselfer can easily tackle a picket fence project, but naturally there are professional willing and able to handle the job professionally and quickly.
