Keeping Badgers Out of Your Garden with Fencing & Hardware Cloth
Badgers are clever, determined little animals and to gardeners, they are outright pests – burrowing into the ground and uprooting plants and flowers. But there are some easy steps that you can take to protect your garden from these bothersome animals.
Simply put, badgers like to dig holes and once they’ve made your garden a playground, you’ll have some serious problems to deal with. The first step is to try and prevent badgers from coming near your home to begin with. By keeping the water and food of your pets indoors and making sure your garbage cans are tightly sealed, a badger may decide to move onto the next door over if it finds nothing particularly interesting to rummage through, eat or drink at your residence. Also, scarecrows, loud portable radios, and sprinklers can all help to keep badgers at a distance – as badgers are nervous creatures and will steer clear of a busy or noisy environment.
Once a badger has infiltrated your yard however, there is still hope. Fencing & hardware cloth is your best bet in this case.
BadgersFirst of all, if a badger has yet to tunnel through your garden, you can prevent it from doing so by placing electric fencing around your plants and flowers, low to the ground. Moreover, a tall, smooth wall (bricks work well) can be built around your garden, protecting your plants and deterring a badger from climbing it.
But fencing is not enough! As aforementioned, badgers love to dig underground and this makes them sneaky invaders. However, if you place a wire grid over your garden, the badger will not be able to dig up your garden. Don’t worry; plants and flowers will still grow properly. This material is called hardware cloth and you can think of it as a sort of filter for pests.
Fencing Hardware ClothFencing & hardware cloth together will secure your garden well, but keeping those harmful creatures out of your garden in the first place is ideal!

Hardware Cloth For Guinea Pig Cage?Sat, 07 Aug 2010 18:40:34 GMT
I am quite interested in making a C&C cage for my guinea pig, but the only problem is all the cubes that I can find in stores near me are too expensive. I already know where to get my coroplast, so that's all figured out, but I decided maybe hardware cloth would be good instead of cubes. I would put some stakes (hard plastic) on each of the corners, and file down the sharp edges of the hardware cloth. Would this be okay to do?

I am building a c & c cage that is like ten feet x five feet x three and a half feet. I can't go and buy the wire storage cubes like everyone uses because it will be REALLY expensive. I have found hardware cloth wire and I was just wondering if it is safe for the piggies. They have very small spacing so that the guineas can't get through it. Thanks for any help. =D Honest answer and best info gets ten points. Please answer =D

can I use silver cleaning polish cloth to clean gold plated hardware? can I clean guitar parts that are 14k , 18k gold plated using the standard polish cloth I get from jewelers to clean the black oxidation from silver? Can I clean the frets with it? Frets are nickel silver I think.. Would gold plated hardware lose its color over time? Is there something I can do to prevent that and keep them shinny? Thanks a lot!
